Dotty AI Early Detection: How PAHI Will Help Catch a Health Change Before the Vet Does

PAHI and Dotty AI haven’t launched yet. We’re still building them. But one question has shaped the design from day one: what if your pet’s collar could notice a change before you do? Here’s how Dotty AI early detection is designed to work, and the kind of moment we’re building it for.

What Dotty AI Will Watch For

Dotty AI is not meant to be a step counter. Once PAHI is out, Dotty AI will build a behavioral baseline for each pet — how they play, rest, scratch and move — during an initial calibration period of about 14 days after the collar goes on. After that, it will look for meaningful drift from that baseline: a dog who is suddenly less playful, or a cat who is grooming less than usual. When it spots a shift, it will send a notification to the PAHI app so you can take a closer look.

A Scenario We’re Building Toward

Imagine a bouncy Labrador whose high-activity window slowly shrinks from four hours a day to just over two across a week. No limping, no whining, no missed meals — nothing a tired owner would notice on a Tuesday evening walk. Dotty AI is being designed to catch exactly that kind of quiet pattern. You would open the app, see the trend line, and could book a vet visit earlier than you otherwise might have.

To be clear, this is an illustration of what we’re designing for, not a case from a real customer. We haven’t launched yet.

Why Early Detection Needs Always-On Monitoring

Early detection only works if the monitoring never stops and doesn’t depend on you remembering to check in. That’s the design logic behind PAHI: GPS for location, the Pet’s Eye camera for visual confirmation, and Dotty AI for the pattern recognition that people are genuinely bad at doing consistently. Together, they are meant to make a collar that works more like a health partner than a tracker.

What It Will and Won’t Do

Dotty AI will not diagnose anything, and it won’t replace your vet. It is meant to shrink the gap between “something feels off” and “we know what changed” by flagging patterns worth a conversation with your vet. The vet makes the call. For pet parents juggling work, family and a dozen other things, that gap is where early problems tend to slip through, and it’s the gap we’re trying to close.

Follow the Build

We’ll keep sharing the journey as PAHI and Dotty AI take shape. If you’d like to be among the first to try PAHI when it’s ready, you can reserve yours here. Because they’re not just pets. They’re family.
