Why We Built Pet’s Eye Into the Collar, Not a Separate Gadget
Every pet camera gadget on the market makes you choose: strap on a bulky clip-on camera, or buy a separate tracker, or both — dangling off your dog’s collar like a charm bracelet. The Pet’s Eye design decision behind PAHI was simple: don’t bolt anything on. Build the camera into the collar itself, alongside GPS and AI health tracking, so there’s nothing to snag, drop, or forget to charge separately.
The Problem With Bolt-On Pet Cameras
Clip-on cameras are an afterthought strapped to a dog collar that was never designed to hold them. They stick out, they catch on bushes and furniture, and they’re usually the first thing to get chewed off during a rough play session. Worse, most of them run on their own battery and their own app — one more thing to manage, one more thing to lose.
Where the Camera Actually Lives
PAHI’s hollow-belt chassis was built specifically to solve this. Instead of a separate housing sitting on top of the strap, the belt itself is hollow, and the Pet’s Eye HD camera, GPS module, and battery all sit inside that channel — flush, low-profile, and protected by PAHI’s titanium anti-cut weave. Nothing pokes out. Nothing to snag on a fence or a dog park scuffle.
One Collar, Three Jobs
The bigger reason we didn’t split this into separate gadgets: GPS, Pet’s Eye, and Dotty AI need to talk to each other. Dotty AI cross-references what the camera sees with movement and location data to flag anxiety, unusual stillness, or distress in real time — something a standalone camera simply can’t do on its own. During the 14-day calibration period, Dotty AI is quietly learning your pet’s normal patterns using all three data streams at once, so it actually knows what “off” looks like for your specific dog, not just a generic breed average.
Safety Was Part of the Design, Too
Building everything into one hollow-belt unit also meant we could lock down the one vulnerable point every smart collar has: the charging contact. PAHI’s charge-pin safety lock keeps that connection covered and secured during normal wear, so it’s not an exposed metal point your dog can lick, chew, or short out on a rainy walk.
What This Means for Your Dog
No second app. No second battery to charge. No dangling gadget that turns into a chew toy. Just one collar that watches, tracks, and learns — built that way from the first sketch, not bolted together after the fact.
